Mothers Day weekend...and then some

My first ever official Mothers Day!

It started off on Thursday May 6, Maverick took me out on a dinner date at Cheesecake Factory in Waikiki. It was the only day that we didnt have any previous engagements at night so he my mothers day came a little early. Janelle Parker was very kind enough to babysit Hyrum from 7:30pm to whatever time we get home so this was also the first time that we have been away from Hyrum for a long time.

We left Laie around 7:30, got to Waikiki around 8:30, seated at around 9:00, ate and talked stories till bout 10:15 and got back home at 11:30...tiring night! But very very fun!

Maverick had a chicken n steak plate with mashed potatoes and I had some sort of chicken pasta...they were both DELISH!!!

Then for dessert, we had an uber yummy red velvet cheesecake that was soooo good we only had about 2 bites each and we couldnt eat anymore.

After dessert we chit chatted for a little bit and laughed and made funny faces at each other. In this picture Mav was trying to separate his eyeballs, meaning the left one looking to the left side and the right eye looking to the right. As you can see, he failed miserably.

Then we walked out of the restaurant hand in hand all ready to come back to get Hyrum who we missed...I was txting Janelle all night asking how he was doing.

On Friday May 7, the men in our ward had put together a mothers day dinner for all the mothers and future mothers. We had a nice barbeque dinner at the TVA pavilion. It was fun takin stories with everyone and enjoying the nice (windy) friday night. I didnt bring a camera so no pictures of this day.

On Saturday May 8, we went to a service project of cleaning up Malaekahana beach then we just chilled at home till about 2pm. Then we headed off to Honolulu and got me my mothers day presents. 3 new shirts and a dress. Ive been complaining that i dont have any clothes to wear. Im still no where near my post pregnancy weight and size but my pregnancy clothes are getting big. I didnt want to buy any clothes for the longest time so that I can make it an encouragement to loose my pregnancy weight, but its just frustrating trying to find clothes to wear in the morning so I give up. Besides, i needed more nursing friendly clothes too.

After shopping, we met up with the Aunas and headed over to Jaime and Ckazs house for dinner in Honolulu. I made apple crisp which turned out great! Ckaz made Filipino curry with rice and Janice made taco salad. It was a yummy dinner! we stayed there till the babies started to go crazy. Then it was time to go home when they had enough.

On Sunday May 9 (official mothers day), I woke up to a special pancake breakfast by the lovely husband. Even Hyrum had a gift for me. We slept in till 8am!!! he usually wakes me up at around 6am then talks my ear off till its time for me to go to work.

Mav made me a lei to wear to church and Hyrum declared his love for me with his bib. Such a little cutie patoots! I love it when his eyes disappear when he smiles! heheeh

At church, the men gave us all a rose each. Hyrum stole mine and wouldnt let go of it.

To end it all, we had a yummy potluck dinner with our neighbors. We (meaning Maverick) made enchiladas, Amy n hubby made salad and rice and lentils, Becky n hubby made cookies. I didnt take pictures either. Sorry!

So all in all it was a great first mothers day! Thanks for all the greetings! im thankful for my mother. Im thankful that I have the opportunity to be a mother...It really is a great role to hold. Thanks to my husband for making the day (or the 4 days) special.

Breaking News!

The little stinker has...

...TEETH!!!!

On Friday night he was chewing on my finger when I noticed that there was something hard in his mouth...i looked and sure enough the hard thing was a little white line on his bottom gums...

Crazy stuff! It was totally unexpected since he hasnt been drooling more than usual and he hasnt really been fussy.

I cant believe it! then this morning I was poking about inside his mouth and felt the other tooth right next to the one that has broke through. I cant see it yet but i can feel it so it shud be showing anytime soon too.

CRAZY CRAZY!!!

Long Overdue

I have been the biggest slacker with updating my blog. Its not a great time to be slacking off to because SSSSOOOOOOO many things has happened that is worth blogging about.

To start off, the little stinker is now 3 months old! CAN YOU BELIEVE!!! He has a strong neck and can hold it up for a few minutes at a time. He is a big smiler and sometimes a giggler. But, if he is upset or wants something, he makes it known! Change his diaper, his dum dum (binkie), a bottle, a boob, sleep, out of his carseat, a cuddle or a combination of any of those. Actually, he is a very happy baby. He really only cries when he wants something then once you give it to him, he'll stop crying. I consider Maverick and myself blessed with our little one because it's easy to take care of him esp with our situation. Since Mav attends classes everyday, and I work 40hrs a week, we have to work out our schedulle around each other so that we can balance him. As much as possible we want Hyrum to spend as little time with a babysitter as possible. So when Mav has class or work, I have Hyrum. Which means that I either go on my lunch break or have him at the office with me. All the other times that Mav doesnt have work or class, he has him at home or at the library. We do have a handful of babysitters for a couple of hours on Mon, Wed and Fri because I need to be at work uninterrupted and Mav has a class. Other than that, we do pretty good passing him between us two. So it is vital that Hyrum is a good boy because otherwise I wouldnt be able to take him to work and Mav would never be able to study while he is with him.

He is also a good sleeper (actually, he's always been a good sleeper) and he's awake longer now during the days. Which is really fun coz he interacts with us. He is just a pleasure! I love seeing his little achievements and just watching him grow and be more attentive about himself and his surroundings. He is also starting to fill out and getting his chunks on so I have fun squeezing and bitting his little chubby cheeks and thighs.

On a different note, I have started working again...40 hours a week...YAP!!! pretty crazy stuff! BUT, I love my job! Im an intern for the campus news center called Ke Alaka'i. We print a magazine every week and I pretty much do whatever I am asked to do like taking pictures, doing a page layout, editing podcasts, uploading things on our website, updating our facebook page and such and such. Im really grateful that I got this job because I have flexible hours which can cater to Mavs class schedule, I can sometimes work from home, and Hyrum can hang out in the office sometimes which is extremely helpful. The paycheck isnt bad either...If you would like to see what Ke Alaka'i is all about go to kealakai.byuh.edu we could always use more site hits.

To finish off, here are more pictures of what Hyrum has been up to lately

Met him wife, Reyna Noelani Auna.

He can roll over from his tummy to his back...these 4 pics are right after each other, I was just moving.

Went to the beach for the very first time on his 3rd month birthday...he even went in the water for about 20 seconds...cried at first but we think he liked it...hehehe

and grew a NICE set of teeth!!!

...i love him...

My little boy is getting bigger everyday. 5 weeks after he was born, his weight is now 9lbs 4oz and his length is 22 1/2 inches. He is starting to get more aware of his surroundings and we love how he is also starting to interact with us.

I love everything about my little guy. He is a very good baby and havent given us too much trouble. Knock on wood that it last this way. Right now, while im waiting for my work visa to get finalized, i get to spend my whole day with him and i love it!

My heart melts whenever he does this...

But i also think that its super cute when he does this...

Sad Day...

My mum took a six weeks leave from work so she can come to Hawaii and help me with the new baby. She got here on the 22nd of January, 3 days before the baby was born and yesterday it was time for her to go back to New Zealand. Sad sad day...

I wish I lived closer to my family. Im sad that my parents wont get to see their grandchild grow up. Ill have to share all of his achievements with the help of skype. I guess this is the challenge that i hear when it comes to marrying someone from another country.

Next time my mum gets to see my son would be December which will also be my dads' first time to see him.. And by that time, Hyrum would be 11months already.

I wasnt expecting to be so emotional because im usually not the crying type of person. But i was holding back tears as soon as we got to the airport. I couldnt hold it anymore and started crying when my mum handed over the baby and i was crying all the way home. Mav was really sweet and tried making me feel better by asking to stop for ice cream or something but i just wanted to go home. He even offered to go to the mall and buy me watever i want (which i shouldve totally taken advantage of).

Then he came home today with a flower bouquet just because he loves me. Im not a big fan of flowers either but that was very much appreciated.

MAVERICK ANDREW MITTON

Since the baby is about to make his appearance (hopefully within the next week), I thought it would be nice to dedicate a post to the man whose fault it is that my belly is a size of a basketball, my bank account is borderline above negative, and im still living in paradise...

I got this idea from Samantha Taylor's blog coz i know that when the baby is here im sure a lot of my post will be about him more than anything else.

So here goes...

I met the handsome chap shown above at Brigham Young University of Hawaii on September 14, 2007.  We were "officially" dating from the beginning of October but broke up sometime in November.  Then after Christmas break I came back to my senses and we got back together.

All throughout the times that we have been together he has made many sacrifices just so that he can give me what I want which sometimes isnt always what I need.  When we were dating, I was thoroughly impressed with all the help that he was willing to give me anytime that I needed it wherever it may be.  Ive always had trouble trying to manage my time and I usually take on more responsibilities that I can handle.  So the first semester that we were dating, I was an executive director for BYUHSA, captain of the Seasiders Spiritdance team, held a calling for the church, working 19 hours a week at the McKay Auditorium and taking 16 credits at school, he would be there eager to assist me from painting and hanging up banners to reading my endless papers.

When our relationship got a little more serious (and started to think about "bigger and better" things), he bought his first beloved car.  For $400 he got a 1986 Jeep Cherokee that he named Samson.

Samson served as his trusted car, storage, closet and most importantly, his house for 4 months.  Every summer break I go back to NZ for 2 months so I can catch up with my family and friends.  And since "bigger and better" things were in our midst, he wanted to come to NZ that year to meet my family and ultimately ask them something.  Hence the $400 car/house.  So he can save up his money for the ticket to NZ (and I guess a ring) instead of paying rent.  It wasnt such a big deal for me back then because it seemed pretty normal, but the more that I think about it, the more I realize that it was not normal at all!  Especially if you saw him sleeping with the top of his head poking out of the open passenger door and his foot on the other side.  Too bad I never took a picture of it...

He also suffered through 2 weeks of intense "family time" where us, my parents, my aunt and uncle and their 3 children went on a caravan trip from the bottom of the south island all the way to the top and back to Auckland.
We had a tonne of fun but im sure you can imagine how intimidating it wouldve been, yet he survived that too.

We got engaged in Wailoaloa Beach, Nadi, Fiji on our way back to Hawaii on the 23rd of August 2008.

And got married in the Salt Lake City, Utah temple on the 18th of December 2008.

And had a ring ceremony/reception 6 months later in Takapuna, Auckland, New Zealand on the 4th July 2009.

The sacrifices that he makes for me is still on going.  Just recently he discontinued taking classes for Spring and Fall 2009 semesters so that he can work full time and save up for the baby.  He worked at Kualoa Ranch as a japanese tour guide which he HATED!  but stuck to it coz it was necessary.
Some days he would also go straight to the Polynesian Cultural Center right after Kualoa to work in his old job at Photo Polynesia.  Then there was also a time when he had a third job with me at the auditorium.  For the days that he worked all 3 jobs his day would go Kualoa from 5am - 3pm, PCC from 4pm - 7pm, and auditorium from 7:30pm - 11:00pm.  I know, CRAZY!!!!

So I know its just the beginning.  There are more sacrifices and surprises in store for us and we are excited for whatever we may get.  I am just so grateful that I have my Maverick to share it all with.  I really wouldnt know what to do with life if he isnt walking beside me every step of the way.  Im grateful that despite all my grumpiness, every whine, every annoying trait, complaints and bossiness, he is still my ever loving husband...and will be for time and all eternity...

All these memories and MANY more to come...

But for now, the waiting still continues for the next chapter of our lives...

39 weeks and STILL counting...

Hoping and wishing that TODAY will be THE DAY!!!!  Come out soon baby...
